Below shows the full texture map I painted in Photoshop, which was wrapped around a modeled cone.
There's a combination of five layers that were painted for the needed parallax within the black hole's tendrils.
The effects department created the small asteroids, which needed to be spinning.
The starmap and the large planet on the top right of frame were also painted by myself.


Below shows a full-res portion from the 6000x3000 pixel painting.

I painted a nebulaic starfield for this sequence which includes a distant view of the black hole.

For this shot, I painted on top of a combination of some 12 different moon photos to create this unique, high resolution moon.
