"Equipment These Days!!"
- The
Objective - To create a 12 second short using a character with no
mouth and big eyes, that has
to lift, push, or pull an object to demonstrate weight and portray a sense
of thought
and believability.
- The Result
- I thought a knight would be perfect for this exercise, because
the helmet would conceal his mouth,
and he could be lifting anything from a dragon he just slayed to a shield
that's too big for him. After generating some
options, I went with the shield idea, and started cranking.
This was a blast
to do, I wish I could show more!! But onto the
next one! Below, I share with you the process from concept to final animation.
Enjoy!

Here is a still from the
final render

After modeling, texturing,
rigging, and painting them weights got completed, I couldn't wait to see how
a pose might work.

Below is the model all
textured up.

And here is the model
before textures were applied. That's one single polygonal mesh too, except
for the helmet, which is separate.

I tried to capture some of the personality I wanted to achieve with
the Knight in this concept, as well as experiment with color and armor details.
This was also an exercise using Painter instead of my most common tool, Photoshop.

And here are all the drawings
that led up to the design and animation of the knight.
